46. It really isn't degrading at all
There are several men the Green Berets revere above all, and John F. Kennedy is at the very top of the list.

John F. Kennedy understood that the United States needed a small, select group of highly-trained warriors under the aegis of the Defense Department to perform covert operations. He got the initial funding. He got the SF their green beret. If you go to the Kennedy museum in Boston, you'll find a green beret in there. It is because of John F. Kennedy that the special operations community exists in its current form.

There are other men, like Bull Simons (who led the Son Tay Raid in Vietnam), Aaron Bank (who formed the 10th Special Forces Group), William Yarborough (World War II parachute innovator and first commander of the Special Operations school) and Roger Donlon (first Vietnam War SF trooper to win the Medal of Honor), that they respect...but they worship Kennedy.
