1. Tim Gill is one of my heroes
Tim Gill wrote a computer program called QuarkXPress. It became the standard of the design-for-print industry, and it made Tim Gill filthy rich. (Gill isn't just a software guy. He started out by building the best hard drives for the Apple II.)

In 1994, Gill started his Gill Foundation, which was chartered to "ensure equal opportunity for all persons regardless of sexual orientation or gender expression."

I think it was 1997, I'm not sure, when Gill decided he had enough money and quit working at Quark.

The only beef I have with Tim is that, because he was the only person in the world who knew how QuarkXPress worked on the inside, the program really sucked for the first couple of years after he left. But it's much better now.
