That whoever wrote this article intended it to be taken seriously? It looks to me like a - very subtle, and in my view very clever - piece of liberal-baiting.

"Nor do I believe blacks should listen to alternative, heavy metal and rock music" does not sound like a serious suggestion to me.

Given the response so far, if the author is indeed making a joke, I take my hat off to him - he's judged his piece to perfection. "One ray the more, one shade the less had half impaired the nameless grace". I think he will go far.

If he really is serious, then just ignore him, but unless there's other evidence to suggest that he is I think it unlikely.
