if he had been extended and invitation to go? I know we've been without a POTUS who had any real scruples for awhile, but, come on... Carter has much more class than that. Do you honestly think that Carter would spend his time criticizing Bush?? Please. Do you really think that would be his concern? The whole point of the trip is to mourn the passing of a Pope, and that's what Carter would do - mourn a man who over the years he has worked with on many causes (more so, than any other President in attendance).

It seems to me that you have very little understanding about the character of President Carter.
