26. Kansas, As Bigoted As You Think
In January 2005 Kansas Tourism ( yes we have one) came up with a new Slogan "Kansas, As Big As You Think"
When the Proposed Amendment come through the Legislature Many Kansan started say it as, Kansas, As Bigoted As You Think.
Yes unfortunately they are correct.

One clarification to Daniels reading of how this could change the law on domestic battery.
see K.S.A. § 21-3412a  (2003)

K.S.A. § 21-3412a.   Domestic battery.

    (a) Domestic battery is:

(1)  intentionally or recklessly causing bodily harm by a family or household member against a family or household member; or

(2)  intentionally causing physical contact with a family or household member by a family or household member when done in a rude, insulting or angry manner.

Depending how the prosecutor interprets the statute the Domestic Battery law in Kansas includes any household member, which may even include two college roommates with no romantic or sexual ties, but are only living in the same household. Maybe even two Frat boys who get in a fight.
