If the control of the media didn't reap any benefits, after the 2000 election the Carlye group wouldn't have started buying up local stations in states where the election results were very close (e.g., OHIO). Furthermore, they wouldn't have put Powell's son in charge of the FCC to further gut the ownership rules.

Look at the current state of the media. It's not only the news that has been dumbed down - a lot of the people delivering the news could hardly qualify as the "brightest tools in the shed." When you have idiots that are being paid big $$$$$$ by their corporate owners, how difficult do you think it is to make these people tow the line? (Especially when greed is also a factor.) Have you forgotten about the NBC reporter who was called on the carpet in 2000 for reporting too favorably on Gore?

Hmmmm....let me think. What other organization employees a bunch of incompetent idiots, paying them far more then they would ever receive in the real world (and elevating them to positions which based on their own abilities - or lack thereof - they would never achieve)?

It's pretty bad when someone is accused of being a right-winger because of a post about the media.
