The way I see it, Schroeder has to remain chancellor

Looking at the current results in Germany, neither side has a majority. Schroeder has said he won't enter any coalition with Merkel as head. So I can only see two scenarios. First is that the communists, who both Schroeder's party and the Greens have said they won't enter in a coalition with and vice-versa revert and enter the coalition, putting Schroeder in power. Or a new election will have to be held. The CDU and communists look much worse now, so they will lose much support. Any new elections should result in Schroeder and the Greens getting a majority.

So thankfully, Bush-bot Merkel is kept out despite pretty much everyone calling the election for her a few weeks ago. Reminds me of Dewey Defeats Truman.
