5. The last offer I heard about (a week or less before the invasion)...
...Was that Saddam would go into exile somewhere, and Iraq would hold new elections.

The US said, 'no way', and scrambled for the excuse that the entire Ba'ath party had to go also now (which isn't what the US had said only a few months previously).

Like when the Bush admin continued to turn down the Afghanistan government's offer to turn over bin Laden in lieu of us invading, there was nothing that was going to stop Commander Bunnypants from starting his war.
