7. I think it's a lot simpler.
I don't put much faith in the idea that she would be the salvation on the bench if any of the inner core gets convicted. The issues that would kick the case up have to be constitutional ones. We know the Prez. can pardon pretty much any miscreant he wants.
Instead, the power card for My Little Crony is that she has no paper trail, she's a female, there is evidence that she has said some pro-gay stuff--but doesn't go too far, mind you. She's been "pro" minority when she was on the Dallas City Council. She exemplifies those all-American values of hard work--much like C*ndi, right? And in the background (for the neocons and Dems) is the idea that Gonzales could be the back-up plan.
