Republicans = SHAMELESS criminals |
|
The thing that bothers me more and more about the CIA leak and Libby indictment is that Republicans have absolutely NO remorse over what they've done. They believe they are above the law and should not be held accountable for their criminal acts.
I am horrified by what I see on TV every day - the shameless pooh poohing of criminal behavior in the White House. It's as if we're supposed to think it's OK for them to do any reprehensible or revolting thing just because they're Republican. If they're caught in serious criminal activity, they just go on as if nothing has happened - totally SHAMELESS about their crime. And we the people are supposed to support this?!!
Presumably, they knew well in advance that Libby was going to be indicted. Did they protect the dignity of the White House and the office of the Presidency by having Libby resign before the indictments were announced? NO! They were rubbing the criminality of the White House in the face of we the people, gloating in the power to commit crime at will. They have no respect for the dignity or reputation of the high office they hold. Considering the howls coming from Republican sources in the midst of the Lewinsky scandal, I find their gloating silence now to be both hypocritical and truly revolting.
Even more reprehensible is the total abdication of responsibility by the Congress to rein in the criminal behavior engaged in by the White House. This wasn't a minor crime! It was exposure of national security secrets in a time of war! Yet Congress lumbers along as if the White House can do no wrong, when clearly they have and continue to do much wrong that has endangered both American lives and the nation as a whole.
I believe the anger of the public towards those in political power is growing. We the people don't take kindly to tyranny, even when the tyrants are our own elected officials. I believe Republicans will soon discover the fruits of their criminal labors are not so tasty once exposed to the heat of public ire. 2006 looks more and more likely to be more of a lesson than a triumph for Republicans.
