Apparently this happened on the 10th of September, but I can't recall any threads about it. If it's a dupe, please delete.

Anyways, I found this on the New Orleans IndyMedia site. I lived n New Orleans for five years and it was such a cool (okay, not strictly "cool" in the temperature dept.....) place. Thank God there's people reporting stuff like this:



Korean Farmer Commits Suicide to Protest WTO Policies
A Korean farmer publicly committed suicide this morning outside the WTO meeting in Cancun, Mexico to protest the impact that WTO policies are having on small farmers. Eight others were injured by repressive police actions at the first day of protests.

The impact that 'free trade', as enforced by the WTO, NAFTA, the FTAA and now CAFTA are having and will have is not going unnoticed by famers here, either. Particularly at risk is the Louisiana sugar cane industry, as reported on by the Plaquemines Post-South
