We should instead deauthorize the selective service. Also chase the recruiters out of the high schools.

There will likely always be a military. There will be those who chose it for a career.

If there is a true need for an army to defend us from an actual attack, volunteers will be no problem because the people rise in their own defense.

A draft only allows the prosecution of unpopular wars. There should be no unpopular wars. In a democracy, if the people are not behind it, we should not be fighting.
