Phase 2 is where you realize that his shtick is the same as that of the used car dealers on Route 1 running north out of Boston. The same smugness, the same aversion to inconvenient facts and people who know them, the preference for selling his stuff to people who are somewhat hysterical, and the sense of power that emanates from the dark rather than the light.
