9. I believe that they expected an attack and stood down

but I don't think they expected a disaster of this scale. Maybe a cessna in a tower to get some headlines. These guys have very conventional values, and would draw the line at something that big. It stands to reason that the intel was sketchy.

Little did they know it would be truly spectacular and enable their Nazi onslaught.
