was either a) Go off on the Niger thing, or b) Give that comment he did. How about c) Shut the fuck up. Say nothing. "I'm sorry, Larry, but historically it is bad form for former Presidents to criticize sitting Presidents." There's your statesman-like comment, with a little "What did he want to say" mystery aura to boot.

From a different thread: I get it. My subtle higher brain enjoys the irony. But my blunt-ass lower lizard brain hears him calling all this stuff no big deal. I don't think he single-handedly messed this whole thing up. But despite everyone saying THIS IS IT and BUSH IS SCREWED, I remember 42,109 other times these fuckers have squirmed out of the corner and survived. I cannot abide anything that comes within a parsec of helping them do this.

I like winners, too. But this is the winner who laid hands on the intern when the entire wingnut world was after his ass, and he knew it. I think he is not above being questioned for having bad god damned judgment on occassions.
