Recall the legal battle between Netscape and Microsoft and the issues involved?
windows defaults to IE, and other browsers are shut out due to the OS. it's built in, but contrary to popular belief, you can rid your system of IE if you want to, and allow the 'competitor' program to load.

sounds like you worked it out all the same despite the petty bs from the corporations that seek to control your puter...and thus, you.
