Many dialup ISP's have a "feature" which automatically disconnects you after a give time period if it sees no outbound activity from your system. To get around this there is software which periodically sends from your system to trick the ISP into keeping your line open. Here is a link to a site with some free software which might solve your problem ( I used this type of program years ago, when I still had dialup and it kept me connected 24/7 on a dedicated line).
