The whole thing is filmed as a staged play. There are no sets or walls, only chalk outlines.

A female stranger arrives one day in a small town. She is running from someone or something. The town gives her refuge and takes her in and gives her odd jobs to do. Her main ally is a young idealistic man who preaches compassion and care to his fellow townsfolk. After living there for a while the towns people see Wanted posters for her and realize that people would be willing to pay good money to find her whereabouts. So they begin to take more and more advantage of her as "pay" for keeping her from the people from whom she is running until slowly she becomes essentially their slave. Again, it progresses from there. The ending is brutal.
