I lived there for one year, about 96 to 97, working for the USDA-ARS lab that used to be there (it was established way back when, pre-Disney, when central Florida was actually a citrus growing area, and relocated to Fort Pierce in about 1998 or 99). Orlando just seemed rush-rush rat-race with no community feeling whatsoever. Disney, Universal and the rest of the theme parks held no interest for me so the place just didn't do it for me at all.
