44. I feel your pain, RA, believe me
My mother and grandmother used to "scout talent" for me, as if I couldn't perceive the interesting guys for myself, but their idea of a desirable young man was almost always clearly (to me anyway) gay.

I'd protest that the young man they had zeroed in on "wasn't my type" and "wasn't likely to be interested in me" (this was the late 1960s-early 1970s, and nice Midwestern suburban ladies didn't talk about homosexuality), my mother and grandmother would say, "What does that matter? You can practice on him." :eyes:

Shortly after I graduated from college, I was attending the weddings of a lot of friends, and my mother and grandmother would sit around drawing up the guest list for my hypothetical wedding, concentrating on people to whose children they had given expensive wedding gifts. Their plan was to fill up the guest lists with all those people who "owed" them. :eyes:

Maybe that's why I'm not married. :-)
