6. Partial to Fleming, myself.
I find the contrast with the films interesting. Fleming's Bond is a rather different character than the James Bond most people know. Seems a much more solitary and lonelier character, who gambles and chases women because his life outside of his work is empty, meaningless, and dull...the books also seem to have a generally darker tone. Some of Fleming's racial sterotypes are apalling, to modern sensibilities, but not that uncommon in the context of his times.
