I wrote a bunch of articles about it.

What happened was the local school district told everybody they had bought a reverse osmosis water system for the local elementary school because it was a well-known problem. But ten years went by and the kids teeth were still bad. So I started investigating and it turned out, the district had never purchased a reverse osmosis system, but a water softener instead, which may have made the water taste better, but did nothing for the fluoride levels.

The EPA long ago determined that too much fluoride is not good for your teeth. And the problem affects only children whose teeth are still developing.
