7. Morning Mina, and happy Halloween Monday to you!!!
Edited on Mon Oct-27-03 12:18 PM by BigMcLargehuge
I too and a longtime Halloween lover. It has always been a special holiday for me as my mom was an avid horror movie fan when I was but a wee lad. We would spend late nights watching Creature Feature on weekends, and with every UHF station running monster mayhem marathons, the last two weeks of October were always the best.

I began dating the woman would go on to be Mrs. McLargehuge on Halloween of 1993. Every year since college I've hosted a monster movie marathon on Halloween night for my friends and nearbye relatives. This year will be different only in that my son will be participating in trick or treating for the first time! I can't wait.

As for this week's questions -

1. What is your favorite brand of candy? ( If you no longer partake of candy what *was* your favorite?)

As a kid it was Zagnut bars, as an adult I am addicted to Milky Way candy bars. Every now and then I have to satiate a powerful lust for candy corn, gummi bears, or malted milk balls.

2. FOR 2003 HALLOWEEN DAY ONLY: What political candidate (elected or not), past, present or future, would you want to be for Halloween 2003?

I have no real clear answer to this. I guess I've always had a weird fascination with Machine politicians, so I'd want to be a Thom Nast caricature of NYC Boss legend Sam Tweed. However, I tend to doubt anyone would recognize me.

3. What is your all time favorite "scary" movie ?

Can I give two answers? Movie that scared me the most, and continues to offer great chills for repeated viewing, John Carpenter's "The Thing". Based on the short story Who Goes There by John W. Campbell, The Thing tells the tale of a remote arctic base who unearths a long frozen flying saucer. when the occupant of the saucer thaws and begins asimilating the camp personnel, the camp must stop the advance of the creature, protect themselves from asimilation, and determine which of the men they have lived with in isolation for years at a time, is in fact, an exact and malevolent duplicate. Great performances by Carpenter standards Kurt Russel (MacReedy) and Keith David (Childs).

Favorite giant monster film. I add this because giant monster movies (Kaiju Eiga) are my favorite genre of film. So hats off to Ishiro Honda's magnificent Gojira (AKA Godzilla King of the Monsters).

4. What are your plans for Halloween 2003?

Take Ian and some nephiews/nieces trick or treating. Host monster movie marathon. Eat candy until sick to stomach.
