I've always thought of that as the classic troll MO. You act like an ass, get banned, and then laugh at everyone running around like headless chickens. You get an instant 15 minutes of fame. It's exactly what the troll aims for.

It's been my experience that in most cases a much better punishment is when a troll gets banned and nobody even notices. That wouldn't be the result I'd want if *I* was a troll. Just my 2c.
