8. Ohhhhh, the Tooth Fairy!
I had to tell my daughter that there really was no Santa Claus when she was about 6. It didn't phase her in the least and she actually said she'd pretty much come to that conclusion on her own. A little while later, she asked, "So... what about the Easter Bunny?" I told her that was a myth, too, and she kind of smirked and went back to what she was doing.

About half an hour later she came to me again, tears streaming down her face, and said, "I have to ask. What about the Tooth Fairy?" When I sadly shook my head in response, she climbed onto my lap and threw her arms around my neck and sobbed as though her little heart would break. After she calmed down, I showed her the box that I kept her baby teeth in and she seemed to finally accept the reality of the situation.

I never did quite understand why she was so affected by the loss of the Tooth Fairy but not the others. She remembers this well, but can't explain that either.
