I can't believe you compared Appalachian snake handlers to the various "miracles" the Catholic Church puts forth as "proof" that God exists.

Christians have a long and sordid history of killing anyone who doesn't interpret their 2000-year-old book exactly as they do. Snake-handlers are all Christians and they all have guns, so I'd suspect they've done a little smiting for Jesus themselves.

But no blood-spewing statue ever turned around and bit the person who was holding it. Venomous snakes, who are already pissed off that they're being forced to participate in a religious ritual, have a different record.
