30. Liz Phair - Somebody's Miracle
Edited on Sat Oct-08-05 10:40 PM by mvd
I'm saving this one along with a few others for end-of-year Christmas gifts, but I've heard a lot of it on the full album listening party. To me, it's like a more pop, but more varied whitechocolatespaceegg. I love it! Better than the self-titled, which had some great songs ("Red Light Fever," "It's Sweet," "Rock Me," "Little Digger," "My Bionic Eyes,") but also had about 4 clunkers. And the lyrics weren't as good as I expected from Liz. I'd even call Somebody's Miracle tied for her best.

Other music I've listened to lately:

Fiona Apple - Extraordinary Machine (again, from full album listening party)- a couple more songs have grown on me, but I think too many songs have a sterility that doesn't suit her quirky style and compelling voice. A B-. I bought a few songs on iTunes since there are quite a few albums above this one in purchasing importance.)

Stuff from:

Julie Gribble - I'll definitely get the CD

Brandi Carlile - Another great lesser-known artist I'll get the CD from

Franz Ferdinand - new CD sounds worth purchasing; will try to hear more since wasn't a fan of self-titled CD

t.A.T.u. - I just don't like t.A.T.u. New stuff could be even worse.

Hope 7 - self-titled (power pop gem from my collection)
