A Day In The Lounge - Tuesday, July 8th, 2003

Welcome to The Lounge! I’ve always gotten a laugh out of reading the many Anti-Christ theories floating around the internet so for the past several weeks I’ve post one each time I post the daily thread. Today, in addition to selecting a new Anti-Christ of the day, I’ll have some fun with the news software and post DU’s 1st ever daily thread quiz.

Anti-Christ of the Day-

Ronald Reagan

Reagan was the Anti-christ, and he knew what we had never considered...that the best way to discredit God, to keep the 2nd coming from occuring was to read ahead in the script and not do what it says to do.

Don't rebuild the temple on the mount. Don't walk in and declare yourself a god among men.

JUST SAY NO to PROPHESY and the PROPHESY WONT COME TRUE.

And when the man, the actor, the empty shell had served its usefulness, the demonic being that was the spawn of Lucifer left the body of Ronald Wilson Reagan, and today that shell lies alone in a hospital and Nancy holds its hand praying to a darker god that her husband will find his way back from hell to take back his life and body.

Here’s a list for people curious if the belong in the GOP.

You might be a Republican if...

* You've tried to argue that poverty could be abolished if people were allowed to keep more of their minimum wage.
* You've ever referred to someone as "my (insert racial or ethnic minority here) friend."
* You're a pro-lifer, but support the death penalty.
* You've ever referred to the moral fiber of something.
* You've ever uttered the phrase, "Why don't we just bomb the heck outta them!"
* You've ever called a secretary or waitress "Honey."
* You don't think "The Simpsons" is all that funny, but you watch it because that Flanders fellow makes a lot of sense.
* You don't let your kids watch Sesame Street because you believe Bert and Ernie are more than just pals.
* You use any of these terms to describe your wife: Old ball and chain, little woman, old lady, tax credit...
* You scream "Dit-dit-ditto" during rather intimate moments.
* You've argued that art has a "moral foundation set in Western values."
* You think Birkenstock was that radical rock concert in 1969.
* You argue that you need 300 handguns in case a bear attacks your home.
* Vietnam makes a lot of sense to you.
* You point to Hootie and the Blowfish as evidence of the end of racism in America.
* You've ever said "Clean air? Looks clean to me."
* You spent MLK Day reading "The Bell Curve."
* You've ever called education a luxury.
* You look down through a glass ceiling and chuckle.
* You wonder if donations to the Pentagon are tax-deductable.
* You own a vehicle with an "Ollie North: American Hero" sticker.
* You're afraid of the "liberal media."
* You ever based an argument on the phrase, "Well, tradition dictates..."
* You think all artists are gay.
* You ever told a child that Oscar the Grouch "lives in a trash can because he is lazy and doesn't want to contribute to society."
* You've ever urged someone to pull themselves up by their bootstraps, when they don't even have shoes.

Here’s your chance to find out which cat and part of a meal you are-

What Part Of A Meal Are You?

Questions of the Day-

1) Have you ever gambled?
2) Have you ever been on a blind date?
3) Have you ever traveled outside of the country you were born in?

*Bonus

Add to the You might be a Republican if... list.

Quote of the Day-

All human actions flow from consciousness. World peace, therefore, can only be established on a foundation of "the consciousness of the oneness of humankind" -- harmony of races, religions, and nations. All peace-building policies and instruments depend on this.
