I just got home after spending four days in the hospital.

I have pneumonia. I don't know if it was a coincidence or if I caught it from my buddy that lives on the streets. He had it a couple of weeks ago. I had night sweats for three nights in a row where I woke up and my hair would be dripping in sweat. I also had this strange cough, it was weird, it was like coughing underwater. I woke up feeling very hot so I took my temp and saw that I had a fever of 99. I was sweating like crazy of course and had that fucked up cough. I told my Grandparents what was going on and they told me I should go to the hospital. I declined, thinking that I would get better. I went back to bed and woke up a couple of hours later with a temp of 102.5 I finally agreed that I had to go the to ER and thank god my Grandfather offered to drive me because I wasn't going to be able to ride the bus and I probably would have called an ambulance if it wasn't for him.

So my Grandfather drops me off at the ER and I walk in and tell the triage nurse what is happening...fever, body aches, night sweats, crazy cough, weakness, and I have aids. She gave me a clipboard to fill out and told me to have a seat in the waiting room....the waiting room was PACKED full of people. I almost cried, I need to be laying down, I can't sit in a chair for two hours while I wait to be seen!! So I focused on the clipboard and started to fill it out...I just finished putting in my first name and they called me back!! They immediatlty gave me a bed in an exam room. I was so relieved!!! They started an IV and had me on oxygen within ten minutes of me walking in the door! They ran all kinds of tests, Chest-x-ray..coughing a lugi in a cup..blood tests, bla bla bla ...i had pneumonia.

They admitted me..and they isolated me..which means no one could walk in my room without a mask and gown. That was kind of weird, but I looked on the brighter side of things. I had no roommate and didn't have to share the TV!!!! The first night there sucked, they kept waking me up for tests. Ultra sound..cat scan..they do these to us from 2 in morning until 4am.

I broke and went back into a fever three times the whole time I was there. Whenever a new fever started all these crazy chicks from the lab would come up and take a cup of blood out of me. They put me on IV antibiotics and continued the oxygen therapy.

Every day, I felt a little better. In fact, things were going so well, they gave me a roommate on the last day. I was bummed when I heard about it, but that went away when I saw the guy....(he was a cutie 20 something with a ruptured spleen) Besides, he was so zonked out on pain killers he spent the whole time sleeping. So I didn't have to give up my TV.

Anyway, I got better each day and they gave me antibiotics to take at home and I am suppose to follow up with a chest x-ray with my PA in a month. So I am good to go!!!

Today, they told me I could go home. They even gave me a voucher to take a cab so I wouldn't have to ride the bus. So I am now home, back online, and feeling FINE!!!
