How Angelina Jolie Keeps the Power Over Jennifer Aniston
Wednesday February 27, 2008

Angelina Jolie continues to keep the power over Jennifer Aniston.

Jolie and Brad Pitt were scheduled to have their first run-in with Aniston at the Night Before party at the Beverly Hills Hotel Saturday night.

Aniston, a confidant tells the new issue of Us Weekly, thought it was “the perfect chance” encounter for closure. "She said the stress of having to avoid them was more painful than seeing them." (Jolie told the January 2007 issue of Vogue that she was open to meeting with Aniston. "That would be her decision, and I would welcome it," she said.)

But hours before the bash, Jolie – who had just debuted her bump across town at the Film Independent's Spirit Awards — backed out.

Jolie is possibly "being either very Machiavellian or very passive-aggressive," Robert Greene, the author of The 48 Laws of Power tells Us Weekly.

"If Angelina is trying to get under Jen's skin – push her buttons – this is a clever way to do it," Greene adds.

"Imagine you're in Jen's shoes," he says. "You're worried about Angelina showing up. And she never does. It's infuriating. If intentional, it's definitely a power move."
