Most people - even close friends - will say "great" to an inquiry about a vacation but I wonder if they all can be so wonderful.

Traveling can be quite stressful, you are out of your "element, not in control, etc. and to me that is often a recipe for problems.

If I have a lousy time I usually say so - it was "ok" or "not good " depending on how bad it was - overwhelmingly so - or just a few unpleasant experiences.

Sometimes, if its terrible from start to finish (and you survive intact) it can be funny, at least.
