http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11604116/from/RS.1/All forms of propoxyphene (the active ingredient) can cause serious heart problems, and are not much better than plain Tylenol for relieving pain, based on 26 different studies done on the medication. Over 2000 people have died from taking propoxyphene--most from heart conditions like arrhythmia where there was no pre-existing defect. There is an effort to get propoxyphene banned in the United States--it's already banned in the UK as of 2005. But our FDA is slow to act, as usual.
Be very careful about taking Darvocet, Darvon, or any of the other brands or forms of propoxyphene.
