don't mention the middle name unless it's to yell at the kid. So affectionately, we would call him Johnny or Jack. But if he's in trouble and we need to yell at him, it would be, "Johann Wolfgang, get your little butt over here!"

Now, if he had siblings, that would be another story. Generally, you have to go down the entire roll call before you get the right one. As in, "Fritz Hans ... no ... Udo Badwulf ... I mean ... Johann Wolfgang!!! Get over here NOW!"

I'm sure they do the same in Germany, no? :shrug:
