After Batman Begins, there was an avalanche of criticism about Holmes' performance, but I thought that she did just fine. Certainly no worse than Gyllenhaal in the same role.

Much of this is due so problems in the writing: Rachel Dawes comes across as an afterthought and is never convincing as a love interest for either of the two male characters.
