18. Well, I have no choice but to get out of debt.
I am in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy for the next 4 years. I pay the court about $600 a month through an automatic withdrawal from my paycheck. I am not allowed to have any credit until the bankruptcy is discharged. Fortunately, I am also drawing Social Security, so I am not hurting for money. I would like to retire, but will have to keep working until the bankruptcy is paid off. That is, if the company I work for doesn't go belly up. Three people were laid off last week. My department consisted of me and 2 others. The other two were laid off, and I am doing their work also. So, I have job security for a while.
