In honor of the outgoing VP, I felt the following is appropriate...

Phobos

When you feel a little scare,
You make believe that I’m not there
But I don’t think it’s on a lark,
Your flashlight’s trembling in the dark

Who’s that breathing down your neck?
Making you a nervous wreck
You can’t see me but I’m real
I’m the terror that you feel

Call me Phobos, call me fear
What you feel when madmen leer
I’m what wakes the kids at night
Causing them to shriek with fright

I’m here when the lights go out
When women scream and old men shout
When your children go to school,
To bed, or playing in the pool

The aftermath of every bomb,
I’m the chill in eerie calm
The voice of whispers, ever near
Booming in your quivering ear

The piercing stare behind your back,
The victim screaming on the rack,
The stranger in your village square
Everywhere you turn, I’m there.

I am Phobos, I am Fear.
There in all you see and hear
And that’s my shadow on the deck,
And my cold hands around your neck.

Five days folks, and the reign of terror is over!
