Rep. Scott McInnis to retire

Here's the article from www.politics1.com:

COLORADO CONGRESSMAN ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT. In an unexpected move, six-term Congressman Scott McInnis (R-CO) announced this weekend that he will not seek re-election in 2004. "I have now been serving in elected office for 21 years, have been away from home for over 3,600 nights, traveled about 3 million miles in airplanes, driven 50,000 miles every year in the district ... and I have enjoyed our time on top of the mountain, but we see another peak in the distance and we want to strike out toward it," explained McInnis in an email to supporters. He was viewed as a safe bet to win re-election in this heavily GOP district -- and is frequently mentioned as a future candidate for higher office. Some speculate that the move is intended to better position McInnis to run for Governor in 2006, when the incumbent is term-limited. Expect a long line of GOP candidates to express an interest in seeking this open House seat.

Is there any chance we could take this one?
