Vestas Books $1 Billion+ In Wind Turbine Orders In Less Than Two Weeks - Bloomberg
Advertisements [?]
Jan. 2 (Bloomberg) -- Vestas Wind Systems A/S, the world's biggest wind-turbine maker, will deliver 33 turbines to a wind farm in Kansas, its seventh order in the last two weeks.

The V90-3 megawatt units were sold to RES Americas Inc., a unit of the U.K.'s Renewable Energy Systems Ltd., Vestas said in a statement today. The company will also deliver 27 V52-850 kilowatt wind turbines to Alerion Industries SpA for an Italian project, it said in a Dec. 28 statement on its Web site.

Randers, Denmark-based Vestas has won seven orders since Dec. 21, four of which are in the U.S., one of its fastest growing markets as subsidies and incentives for wind energy spur demand for turbines. Each order is worth about 1 million euros ($1.45 million) per megawatt, bringing the total value of all seven contracts to about 903 million euros, Kitty Groen, an analyst at Handelsbanken Capital Markets, said by phone today.

``Vestas is in a very positive stream of good news, and it looks bright for the North American continent,'' said Groen, who recommends buying the shares. ``They have a very good order pipeline in the U.S., and I think they will be able to build up and maintain a strong market share there.''
