In America, "other" people are just a commodity, a means to higher profit. This "Authority" is a group of people, they have names and faces. And they lied. So they must have known that something was wrong and they chose to hide it. In today's America, that's not so unusual. Because these kind of decisions are hidden behind the face of a company, a corporation, an Authority.
