You will soon find out that hatred of Israel, often with hidden threads of Anti-Semitism is very strong on DU.

Mostly, ignorant people who are too lazy to actually learn the history of the area - starting from WWI. Hey, even "Lawrence of Arabia" can be a good source for these lazy minds.

The sad fact is that until 1967, when Israel defended itself against powerful armies, it was admired in the world for building a new society, based on equality, for cultivating swamps and desert.

But, no, people here prefer to see Jews and Israelis as victims. No doubt, had Israel been wiped by Arab nations there would be threads here with candles people mourning the demise of the small, courageous nation that dared to survive against all odds.

And they refused to accept the fact that Israel as a democracy, can have corrupt and inept government just like... well, you know.

And they are mad because they think that it was Israel who "got" this country to invade Iraq. As the saying go - you can lead the horse to the water, etc. Israel can ask but and perhaps it did, but the partner was willing.

Notice how someone above used the word "cabal?" Comes from the an old mystical Jewish teaching of Kabbala that was recently adopted by Hollywood celebrities.

No, they are not Anti-Semites, only anti Israel, anti Zionism... either way, the ignorance, shallowness and hate do float to the top.
