2. Excellently said, Mr. President!
All I have to say is that it's about time.

I have been appalled at the gall of some interviewers. I listened to Clinton's speech at the Democratic Convention, and as always he was superb. Tuned into Tavis Smiley for the interview immediately afterward. Clinton was glowing with that good energy he gets from friendly crowds.

Smiley opened with a question about Monica Lewinsky, and I watched that glow just die. Clinton was very, very polite, but stunned. What about the content of his speech? What about the very obvious fact that a lot of people just love the guy, regardless of his personal failings? No, no, Smiley had to ask about the silly girl in the blue dress...

I was so incensed that I emailed Tavis via the PBS website and demanded to know what possessed him.

Et tu, Peter Jennings? When is it enough?
