59. I'm with KoKo01 on this.
Am I "radical left" because I turned the TV off two years ago? I guess I'm in good company with the Amish, eh? (oh, I forgot, I -do- use the internet!) hehehe And yes, the labels are -that- ridiculous.

This is exactly what the GOP loves to push, our in-fighting and division. This is not a time to pick each other apart. This is a time for unity within our party, regardless of the diversity of our ideas and positions on issues.

This party IS the party of diversity, not a monoculture of hypocrites, so it's time for Democrats to accept that and figure out a way to listen to all of our opinions, no matter how "radical" you might think they are, because "United We Stand, Divided We Fall" and the sooner we realize that, the better. Shutting out voices by labeling them as "radicals" or "those queers" or "those out-of-touch-with-reality folks" or other such crap is just going to alienate large swaths of supporters, and unless and until the DLC (and even the people here) realizes that, we may never win another major election in this country even IF we get the voting machine integrity issues fixed.

I think, too, that we need to realize that we CAN BE the media. We have "new media" right here in front of us... this monitor, this keyboard, access to servers and email and mailing lists and websites and blogs. Maybe people don't yet realize just how powerful that is, I don't know, but I believe that it's eventually going to make television obsolete. We're already seeing the shift to cable from broadcast networks... it's still evolving, and it will continue to evolve. We are the Progressives, we change with the times, just as media will.

Be an active part of that.
