pork-barrel projects for GOP Congressional cronies. This thread covers just the especially notorious Alaskan part of that very big pie:

Thread title: NYT op/ed on Republican PORK - PORK - PORK in Alaska - YOU'RE paying!

The degree of corruption in this is overwhelming - most of the Alaskan projects were unneeded and even unwanted by the voters of the area - but they will line the pockets of the big GOP power in that area, Frank Murkowski.

Just a small fraction of what was spent unnecessarily in the Transportation Bill would have kept New Orleans from drowning and saved who knows how many thousands of lives throughout the whole devastated area.
