I swear I'm not making this up. He shows up to cut brush with inadequate safety gear (plastic earplugs instead of proper ear protectors, and aviator shades and a cowboy hat instead of the hardhat and faceshield recommended by his own Forest Service safety manuals).

No wonder his bodyguards are kept busy, making sure falling branches don't hit him. (I showed this piece to a forest ranger who actually used to like Bush, and now she thinks he's irresponsible and not to be trusted ... wouldn't have him on her crew!)

"Out here, Secret Service agents trained to take the bullet for the president ensure falling trees do not strike him. Some watch the perimeter around Bush, while those closest to him guide cedar away from his head."
