with apologies to Mr. McLuhan

We have a lot of discussion here, at times, about cable news shows and their personalities. A *lot* of discussion about the personalities.

To be honest, I don't know why. I understand that we want some semblance of fair representation in the media, but hanging on every comment from every talking head on CNN, MSNBC or C-SPAN seems a little pointless in the scheme of things. You know what I mean?

They don't have a vote in the US Senate or the House, let alone a state legislature, county body or town council.

And we may overplay their influence on those that do.

I wonder why this happens and wonder if we're missing something, as a political discussion board, with the focus on the media instead of the message.

Off the top of the head 2 cents.
