20. Send Him, Send His Kids
Edited on Mon Apr-17-06 07:16 AM by erpowers
Since he seems to want to stay the course I say send him into the war along with his kids. I get very upset when these Republicans and Young Republicans who want to call everyone who is against the war a communist or unpatriotic or say we should stay the course but then when they are asked to go or to send their kids they say "oh no, do not send my kids send those other kids". I have seen and heard about many Bush supporters who claimed to support the war in Iraq and Bush's handling of the war but then turn on both Bush and the war when their kids are put in jeopardy of being sent to the war. At least two parents have been highlighted for doing this which is why at time I wonder why the media will not do more stories on how many Bush supporters turn on the war when they think their kids may have to go fight the war. During the 2004 campaign NBC Nightly News interviewed one women who claimed she supported Bush and supported the war in Iraq; she claimed she thought it was the right thing to do. She also pointed out that she planned on voting for Bush; however, she went on the say that if Bush called for a draft she would vote for Kerry in that she did not want her sons fighting the war. The other person was also a women who when a Marine recruiter came to her house to recruit her son the recruiter saw an American flag waving from the a flag pole. I think He then saw support the troops bumpers stickers on the family vehicle. When the mother opened the door she had on a support the troops shirt and greeted the Marine recruiter by saying I want you to know that I support you and all the other troops. However, when the recruiter began to talk about recruiting her son she told the recruiter something like "oh no, our type do not do things like that". Finally, although the support for the war has weakened I contend pollsters should ask people who support the war if they support sending their children to the war. I think adding that question to the polls which claimed major support for the war would have made for interesting discussions. It would have been interesting to see polls that claimed 70% support for the war and 90%-100% against their kids fighting the war.
