My "baby" sister had 2 ectopic pregnancies. In each case the procedure performed is what the anti-women, forced "pregnancy-as-punishment" crowd call "abortion." Had that crowd had its way some 30 years ago, my "baby" sister would now be dead.
As to late term abortion, here is one woman's experience. I, for one, would question the humanity of anyone...anyone who would claim this woman was a "sinner" or "murderer" or that she had an "abortion of convenience."
http://www.boston.com/news/globe/magazine/articles/2004/01/25/my_late_term_abortion/We have had decades of letting our opposition frame and define the debate away from birth control, sex education, safe and healthy pregnancies and well babies and mothers, women's sexual and gynecological health, and families' rights to define and decide the size and makeup of their family by maliciously narrowing the debate to one plank of the platform and demonizing and stigmatizing abortion and anyone who has one as "murder" or "sinner."
The results of that can be seen when someone will say "well, I'd never have an abortion myself, but..." or "I don't believe in abortion myself, but..." Why? Why wouldn't they have an abortion? Because it's a sin? Because it's murder? Why don't they "believe" in abortion? Because it's a sin? Because it's murder? The person speaking those words has lost the argument before it even begins. They have implicitly stated that they believe abortion is wrong; in some sense of the word, i.e. a sin or murder and there is also the suggestion that women have abortions for "convenience." "...but, I support a woman's right to choose murder?" "...but, I support a woman's right to sin?" "...but, I myself, would never do such a sinful, murderous thing just for convenience?" They might as well say that last because they've already implied it.
So, I am pro-abortion. And to those who say, "I would never have an abortion myself, but..." please, do tell, what if you were presented with an ectopic pregnancy? What if you were presented with the scenario in the linked article? What if you were raped and discovered you were pregnant? What if the rapist decides he wants parental rights? What if you became pregnant at 13? 14? 15? What if having one more child means you cannot feed the children you have? What if having one more pregnancy destroys your health? What if you hadn't been lucky enough (so far) to go through life without any of the myriad reasons women are forced to "choose" to have abortions? What if...?
Abortion is rarely a "choice." Abortion is an option. An option that needs to remain safe, legal and available; for all women; even the ones who "would never have an abortion, but..." and find themselves suddenly "inconvenienced."
Yeah, I am pro-abortion.
