16. That is a scenario - a ticket like
a heavy Gore for Pres, Richardson for VP - a team that "weighs like America" (and looks like America too, with Richardson's Hispanic heritage). But I think my doubt is more appropriate: to an extent, Americans elect a President who is like them, who they feel comfortable with - (viz. the infamous "Beer Test"). But they also vote for a President to be "presidential"- something greater and grander than them. JFK did more than any other recent president to shape the image, to define the nature of the American elective monarch. From him ever on, they will always have Good Hair, they won't be too short (though that was settled by the "OG" himself - the Original George, Washington), and they'll be trim, not tubby -- all to project the youthfulness that America still feels, and we are still a young country, we are still a product of the Enlightenment, and the Enlightenment is still recent history. We settled out frontier not much over a hundred years ago. So there is some method to the voters' madness.
