31. Fineman is nuts
I can see Gore joining forces with Bloomberg on issues of climate change...

But beyond that...? Gore isn't going to change parties or leave the party. I'm sure he's not thrilled about Hillary, but he's not going to make an indy run and won't back an indy candidate. Bloomberg won't go anywhere as an indy either. He'll end up drawing moderate Dem voters, thus hurting the Dem nominee. The strong 30+% republican base still drinks the kool aid pretty heavily...and I think the "moderate" republicans will fall for a "moderate" McCain, Giulliani, Romney, or Thompson...

Bloomberg's best bet to influence the election is backing the Dem nominee (he's closer to most Dems politically anyways). BTW, I'm curious - what is his relationship with Giulliani like? I doubt they're that close...
