20. Actually, no, we aren't. We're in War Without End, amen mode.
We're in TERRA TERRA TERRA mode, we're in MORE GOVERNMENT, NOT LESS mode, we're in SPEND, SPEND, SPEND and DEFICIT, DEFICIT, DEFICIT mode--and that is the diametric opposite of Reagan's policies. Reagan wanted to drown government in the bathtub. He wanted NO help for those who need it. Fuck the sick, take care of yourself. AIDS? Screw that--if you get it, it's YOUR fault. Social programs? We aren't a welfare state; get lost, you Welfare Queens in your caddys! And catsup--it's a vegetable--and why should the government give poor children breakfast, anyway?

Reagan wanted to drown that government in the tub, Bush II wants the government IN your bathtub, your toilet, your bedroom....

But that's not the fault of Bill Clinton. He balanced the budget, got rid of that deficit. Enhanced our standing in the world. Made people from other countries look upon us and smile.

Oh, those good times...but that Bridge to the 21st Century stuff, that Al Gore and The Environment stuff, why, that wasn't an important trajectory at all.

Sure.
